Have You Considered Ductless Heating?

ductless-remoteDo you have a new home being built? Are you ready to decide how it is that you will go about heating that home for the years to come? Do you just want to replace your existing heating system with something new, and potentially much more efficient? Then you should definitely be thinking about using ductless heating in Visalia, CA.

While the design of ductless mini split systems does make them ideal for retrofits or even for installation in very old properties that were not really constructed with air ducts in mind, this does not mean that just anyone can handle the installation of such systems. In fact, installing, repairing, and maintaining ductless mini splits all demand the skill and expertise that only qualified professionals can offer. Give us a call today to have the job done right.

How Does Ductless Heating Work?

Ductless heaters are better described as ductless heat pumps or ductless heating and cooling systems. This is due to the fact that they use existing heat in the air outside in order to heat the interior space of a home, and they can double as cooling systems, as well. Like traditional heat pumps, ductless mini splits reverse their refrigerant cycle and the function of their coils in order to achieve this goal.

Unlike traditional heat pumps, however, ductless mini splits obviously do not use air ducts. Instead, they use individual, wall-mounted blowers in order to distribute conditioned air throughout the house. These blower units connect to a single outdoor compressor/condenser unit via a conduit that contains power refrigerant lines.

The blowers are all controlled independently of one another, as well. With the elimination of ductwork the independent control of these blowers taken into account, ductless mini splits can benefit homeowners in some ways that even traditional heat pumps cannot match.

Benefits of Going Ductless

If you don’t have existing ductwork installed in your home, then the installation of new ductwork can actually prove to be quite the challenge. When you opt for a ductless system, you can forgo the headache of having that ductwork installed. Even if you do have air ducts already, though, you may wish to avoid the use of them.

When you use ductwork, you run the risk of energy loss via leaks in those air ducts. You may also run into issues with reduced indoor air quality, as leaky ductwork can allow pollutants into the system and may result in the distribution of those pollutants throughout your home. Additionally, the use of a ductless system allows for simple zone control, which helps you to further boost efficiency with ease.

It is worth noting, of course, that not every home is going to be ideal for the use of ductless mini splits, nor will every homeowner find this to be the ideal solution for their needs.
