A Seasonal HVAC Maintenance Schedule Will Help Your System in the Long Run

A Seasonal HVAC Maintenance Schedule Will Help Your System in the Long RunYou’ve probably heard the term here and there, but what exactly does seasonal HVAC maintenance involve?

Experts say you should get your home’s heating and cooling systems inspected at least once a year, preferably once in the spring and again in the fall. These inspections are designed to pinpoint any problem areas that may cost you a lot of money down the road and make sure the equipment is operating efficiently. A proper maintenance tuneup also will prevent situations from arising that could endanger you and your family.

The technician will go over your system and check to make sure everything is clean, oiled and in proper working order. They will check all the connections and burners/coils and make necessary adjustments such as cleaning dirty coils or replacing air filters.

The technician also will point out potential problems and suggest appropriate actions to correct them. Be sure to ask what will be covered in your inspection as there is no common standard among companies.

When Is a Good Time to Schedule HVAC Maintenance?

Due to the high volume most heating and air conditioning companies get during the winter and summer months, it’s best to set up your maintenance appointment for the early spring and fall. This way you won’t have to wait as long for the non-emergency inspection. This enables your system to get a full once-over, and have any problems repaired before you have to rely on the equipment for heating or cooling your home.

How Does HVAC Maintenance Help Your System?

Getting your heating and cooling equipment inspected not only will save you money on costly and preventable repairs, but also on your energy bill. When dust and gunk accumulate in system components, they have to work harder to achieve the same result, which will result in higher energy bills.

When your system goes without regular maintenance, excessive wear and tear will develop and parts, if not the whole system, will need to be replaced prematurely. You also will be given the chance to upgrade your equipment with state-of-the-art technology if you so desire.
